"I found a pattern in my behavior that had been repeating itself for years, decade even. Bad choices were my specialty, and if something honest and decent came along, I would shun it or run the other way. It could be argued that my choices reflected the way I saw myself, that thought I wasn't worthy of anything decent, so I could only choose partners who would ultimately abandon me, as I was convinced my mother had done, all those years ago."
I admire Eric Clapton's courage in accepting who he really was, even though he needed to face his failures as a lover, as a father and as a person.
I appreciate how he thoroughly reflected on his behavior so he may recognize his flaws and eventually transform those flaws into his strengths.
I think that the reflections and acceptance that Eric Clapton went through must also happen in my life so I may clearly understand the patterns of my behaviors and the necessary changes that I must have to stop the cycle of losing and crying.
